A special meet-and-greet event with interior designer Nikki Chu highlights her debut lighting collection with the company.
Lighting manufacturer Quorum International will host acclaimed interior and product designer Nikki Chu for a special meet-and-greet during fall High Point Market on Sunday, October 18, from 2:30–5 p.m. in the company’s showroom in Suites at Market Square M1000A-B.
Titled “An Afternoon of Sculptural Illumination,” the event will give designers, retailers and other market attendees an opportunity to meet Chu while viewing the newly launched Nikki Chu x Quorum lighting collection.
The eight-piece collaboration brings Chu’s distinctive design perspective to lighting, blending sculptural forms, clean architectural lines and layered materials with a modern luxury aesthetic. Glass, leather textures, and hammered metal details appear throughout the collection, creating lighting designed to make a strong visual statement in any interior.
During the afternoon, guests can explore the collection firsthand and connect with Chu to learn more about the inspiration and creative vision behind the collaboration.
Known for her eclectic, fashion-influenced approach to interiors and home furnishings, Chu draws inspiration from form, texture and layered design. Her collaboration with Quorum translates that point of view into lighting that balances artistic expression with functionality and versatility.
“Lighting has such an important influence on how a space looks and feels, and I wanted this collection to have a presence even when the fixtures aren’t illuminated,” explained Chu. “We approached each piece as a sculptural object, playing with scale, texture and unexpected combinations of materials. The result feels very true to my design philosophy — modern and elevated, but still warm, livable and personal.”
According to David Patton, director of design for Quorum International, integrated LED technology and versatile installation options add another layer of flexibility to the collection. Several fixtures can be installed in multiple orientations or configurations, giving designers greater creative freedom to tailor the lighting to a space while maintaining each piece’s distinctive sculptural character.
“Nikki has a distinctive ability to layer materials, patterns and influences in a way that feels both unexpected and incredibly cohesive,” said Patton. “That perspective gave us an opportunity to explore lighting differently — from the materials we paired together to the scale, geometry and flexibility of the fixtures. This collection reflects what both Nikki and Quorum do best: pushing design forward while creating pieces that work beautifully in real interiors.”
The meet-and-greet event follows Chu’s participation earlier that afternoon in “Making Your Mark: Minority Designers on Building a Career,” a panel discussion hosted by Andmore from 1–2 p.m. in The Suites at Market Square Seminar Room T-1022.
Moderated by Chu, the panel will bring together accomplished minority interior designers for a candid conversation about building successful careers in the design industry. Following the discussion, attendees are invited to continue the afternoon with Chu at the Quorum showroom, where they can see her first lighting collection with the manufacturer up close.
