Legendary lighting representative Raymond “Marshall” Jarvie passed away on August 16 at the age of 100.
Born on October 31, 1925, Marshall lived in Aliso Viejo, California and was predeceased by his wife, Susan, who passed away in February 2024 at age 83.
Earlier this year in celebration of National Mentoring Month, lighting industry veteran James Fleming noted:
“I’m grateful for many mentors including Mr. Marshall Jarvie who operated one of the most successful manufacturers’ rep agencies for decorative lighting in North America based out of Southern California in the 1960s, ’70’s and ’80s.
“He then relocated to South Florida to ‘semi retire’ yet continued representing esteemed companies such as Schonbek in Florida, South America, Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska working well into his 80s!
“Marshall gifted me a framed ‘word art’ for my office that read, “Maintain a Healthy Dissatisfaction for Existing Conditions.” This motto influenced me throughout my professional career as well as in my personal life. Thank you, Marshall.
Jill Riley – a lighting sales veteran whose career included crystal manufacturers Schonbek, Preciosa, and Weiss & Biheller – recalled, “Their territory at one time was Florida, California, Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Latin America and Hawaii. He also published some journals on repping as well wrote a book on his life story, titled “Almost Age 100: My Secrets: Legendary,” which was sold on Amazon. They were my mentors and sparkled. They will be missed.”
