New Company Alteck Lighting Marks Debut at Lightovation

What began as an idea for a lighting company less than one year ago has quickly grown into a line of 200+ outdoor fixtures under the name Alteck Lighting, which was unveiled several weeks ago during Lightovation at the Dallas Market Center.

The members of the company’s executive team – comprised of CEO & chief designer Bob De’Armond, chief operating officer Colleen Visage, chief sourcing officer Ryan Wu, and vice president of sales Mike Hadank – are well-known in the lighting industry. De’Armond is credited with establishing the design vision for Modern Forms and was also a design visionary at Minka; Visage is respected for her abilities in product development at companies such as Progress Lighting and Kichler; and Hadank has held sales management roles with LED Inspirations, Kichler, and Swarovski/Schonbek.

In short, this team took its thorough understanding of the decorative residential lighting industry and determined where there were voids in the marketplace. The result of that assessment is the initial collection of wet-location products featuring hardy materials from the higher-end of the market such as travertine, terrazzo, and marble — choices not typically found in the outdoor lighting category. These designs also lend themselves to interior applications, which is an avenue that the company will be exploring further.

The goal, according to De’Armond, is to create lighting designs that are more unique than what is already available in the marketplace. To keep Alteck Lighting’s modestly sized showroom on the third floor of the Trade Mart looking fresh, he aims to have only new fixtures on display each market so that buyers would see something completely different each time they stop in. That said, the June Lightovation will be the exception, with many of the LED fixtures from the January market remaining on display since the company is so new and in the process of expanding production.

Response to the initial launch in Dallas was overwhelmingly positive, not only for the appeal of the designs but also for the people behind the brand.
