Troy Lee to be Inducted Into ALA Hall of Fame at Conference

The American Lighting Association (ALA) has announced that Troy Lee of Savoy House will be inducted into its Lighting Hall of Fame during the 2025 ALA Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, on the evening of Tuesday, September 9.

Established in 2000, the ALA Lighting Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of outstanding service, leadership, and contributions to the lighting industry and the association. Troy Lee’s career reflects these values through decades of business growth and industry engagement.

Lee began his work in the industry at the age of 12, assisting in his father’s business, Progressive Lighting, in Atlanta. His early experience included warehouse operations, showroom setup, fixture assembly, and customer service.

After earning a degree in economics from Mercer University, he formally joined Progressive Lighting in 1983. He held multiple roles across the company, working his way up from sales associate, showroom manager, store manager, and director of operations before founding Savoy House in 2000, where he served as president and director of operations. In 2019, he was named CEO of Progressive Lighting, Lee Lighting, and Savoy House.

Today, the companies operate 11 showroom locations across Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. Savoy House distributes from a 550,000-sq.-ft. facility in Duluth, Ga., with international offices in China and Vietnam.

Lee has been actively involved in industry leadership, currently serving as chairman of the Dallas Market Center Lightovation Board, chairman of the ALA Finance Committee, and a member of the ALA Board of Governors. He also contributes to his local community through leadership roles with his church and the Johns Creek Symphony and Chorale Board.

“ALA is a better organization thanks to Troy’s dedication and foresight as treasurer. He has been an invaluable resource to our members, board, and professional staff,” said Laurie Gross, president of Gross Electric, Inc., and past CEO and chairperson of ALA. “We appreciate all he has done for the lighting industry. Thank you, Troy!”

“Troy is an industry leader and supporter. His commitment to the betterment of our industry, ALA, his showroom partners, his staff, and his support of organizations such as Lighting One and The H Foundation, is a testament to the man he is. He is always first to say yes, willing to try new approaches with enthusiasm and conviction to foster success,” said Gregg Garofalo, president of Lighting One.

“Troy represents everything the ALA Lighting Hall of Fame was created to celebrate,” said ALA president and CEO Jon Melchi. “His commitment to the lighting industry and to ALA has had a lasting impact.”

The ALA invites members and industry professionals to attend the 2025 ALA Conference, taking place September 7-9, to celebrate Lee’s induction. Registration and event details are available at ALAConference.com.
