Free Lighting Festival in NY on Labor Day Weekend

The free, family-friendly Night Lights event will be held on Saturday, September 5.

The fourth annual Night Lights in New Lebanon, New York – approximately 25 miles from Albany – brings groups of lighting enthusiasts, designers, and the local community together to enjoy an evening of experiential lighting installations on Saturday, September 5.

Since its inception, the lighting festival has been created, installed, and presented over Labor Day weekend. According to the organizers, the event is “powered by lighting fixtures and imagination [where] lighting designers become light artists to transform an unassuming rural property with their creative installations and invite the community to experience and enjoy.”

The festival showcases 25+ talented lighting designers from all over the country who share their talents and creative vision to create experiential lighting vignettes. The annual event is facilitated by a group of volunteers who lend their time and energy to create these experiential lighting installations for the local community to enjoy. Throughout the year, teams design and source material for their installs, which will be assembled and dismantled within 72 hours.

The goal of the event is to promote collaboration, creativity, and community engagement. Originally created as an initiative designed to support and inspire the growth of the next generation of talent in the lighting community, the program draws support from leading industry lighting designers and emerging professionals from both the New York City and Boston lighting communities. It is supported through materials and financial contributions from sponsors and the community.

The event’s Visionary Sponsors are the IESNYC and DLFNYC. Event Sponsors are ETC and Hydrel, and this year marks the first Fiscal Sponsor: Equity in Lighting. More than 30 other manufacturers, sales, and design firms from the lighting industry are also sponsors.

The festival will be held on Saturday, September 5 at 8:00 pm-11:00 pm with the first hour dedicated for families with small children.

Although the event is free to attend, pre-registration is encouraged to reserve a dedicated time slot — the last entry is at 10:30 pm.  Registration is available here.
