Tony Davidson to Retire as President of Eurofase, Named Executive Chairman

Industry veteran Tony Davidson will be retiring as president of Toronto-based lighting and heating solutions manufacturer Eurofase effective April 30. The decision was expected and announced internally some weeks ago, and a search has been underway – led by Davidson – to appoint a successor. Robert Zeidel will serve in the role of interim president until a new president is named.

Over the five years since Davidson assumed the role of president, he has been commuting from his home in Cleveland to Eurofase’s headquarters in Toronto every other week. “It’s been a good five years, but I’m ready to retire,” Davidson said.  “I’m moving on to something new — but it won’t be in the business. I have some personal goals that I would like to do.”

Davidson, who remains a stakeholder in Eurofase, will transition to the role of executive chairman of the board. “I’m stepping back from the day-to-day grind, but will still be active on the board and involved in the strategy of the business,” he stated, adding, “From my perspective, the lighting business is very unique. People who get into the industry early in their career don’t leave. It has that attractiveness.”

He continued, “Eurofase has always been about delivering exceptional products and experiences to our customers. I have full confidence in the management team in place and their unwavering commitment to understanding and exceeding customer expectations. Their collective focus on the customer ensures that Eurofase remains well-positioned for continued success.”

The Eurofase board of directors has initiated the search for Davidson’s successor, prioritizing a seamless transition that upholds the company’s commitment to innovation, quality, and service.

“Tony’s leadership has been instrumental in defining Eurofase’s direction and success. We are grateful for his vision and contributions and look forward to his continued involvement as chairman of the Eurofase board,” said Jay Takefman, senior managing director at Beach Point Capital Management.
