Lighting News Now Creates Made in USA Directory of Lighting Manufacturers

With an increase in tariffs – and possible new tariffs – looming, lighting showrooms in the U.S. are keenly interested in exploring domestic lighting companies as prospective suppliers. In the past, with the exception of the high end of the market, domestic lighting manufacturers were considered too expensive for a showroom’s average (mid-range) customer to afford. Now that tariffs will most likely cause a significant price increase for consumers on imported goods, the cost difference narrows.

There is another reason that showrooms are interested in buying from domestic lighting manufacturers. At a time where higher-end consumers want something unique and special, customization has become worth the splurge. Domestic manufacturers not only offer a wide availability of custom options, but the lead times are more reasonable than in years past.

It is important to note that not every component used in a domestic lighting manufacturer’s factory or studio is U.S.-sourced. For example, hardware and fasteners often need to be imported, and China is a main source. Since tariffs apply to those items as well, even a domestic manufacturer will have an increase in costs.

While there are commercial lighting companies that are producing goods in America – for example, Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) has been expanding its 3D printing capabilities to include an array of pendants – LNN chose to focus on the decorative residential and hospitality sector as suitable options for lighting showrooms to carry.

If you know of a domestic lighting manufacturer that is not on this list, please email linda@homenewsnow.com and it will be added. We hope that compiling this directory helps lighting showrooms have more options by presenting smaller companies that they might not have known existed.
