KTR Expands Mid-Atlantic Reach With 2 Hires

The New York-based lighting agency has added two lighting professionals who will serve the Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia markets.

Lighting agency KTR Associates is expanding its coverage and expertise with the addition of two seasoned lighting professionals who bring different skillsets to the team: Mirko Powell and Thomas Spicher.

Noted John McMahan, owner and principal of KTR Associates, “Both bring exactly what KTR is built on — relationships, product knowledge, and a start-to-finish commitment to the showrooms, distributors, designers, and trade partners we serve.”

As a lighting designer, Powell brings a wealth of knowledge in high-end retail – having held sales positions with Gianni Versace, True Religion, Kate Spade and Kenneth Cole – as well lighting sales and design experience with Dulles Electric Supply and most recently with Dominion Lighting.  

McMahon said, “Mirko is joining us to lead the charge in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. A true lighting designer at heart, he partners with showrooms, electrical distributors, designers, builders, and remodelers to turn spaces into something special — from decorative and architectural lighting to controls, outdoor, and complete residential packages. He connects people with the products and solutions they didn’t even know they needed, and makes the complicated world of lighting easier to navigate.”

Powell will support his showroom and distributor accounts with product training, display and program guidance, spec assistance, and day-to-day service. His expertise spans decorative, recessed, and architectural lighting, undercabinet and tape lighting, controls, outdoor lighting, and complete residential packages.

Spicher will handle the trade and design channel in the greater Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania market. For eight years, he served that territory as a lighting agent with another firm.

McMahon said, “Thomas is a well-known, well-respected name in the trade community who grew business dramatically across the Pennsylvania market. After a short sabbatical spent building his craft in photography and social media, he’s back in lighting and ready to lead KTR’s growing trade channel in Pennsylvania while supporting our broader push into the design community.”
