The 80-SKU collection is the first entry into the lighting category for the family-owned furniture manufacturer.
Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Meridian Furniture is continuing to grow its brand as a whole home supplier by unveiling a 80-piece lighting line at this month’s Las Vegas Market. The company specializes in providing a contemporary European aesthetic at affordable price points.
The portable lamp collection can be viewed inside Meridian’s revamped showroom on the first floor of Building B (B-101). The initial table and floor lamp designs feature natural materials (i.e. marble, acacia and mango woods, and woven rattan) with a handcrafted artisan feel. Many of those designs will be available in multiple colorways to suit customer needs.
Mindy Marx, senior merchant and product development leader, described the design inspiration as “artisan soul with refined organic textures and a midcentury to contemporary style story.” She added, “The lamps work beautifully with all the products in Meridian’s other categories. That uniqueness is not an easy thing to find these days because so many vendors in the lighting category have been playing it safe with mainstream, me-too looks. We’ve designed this collection to bring personality back to the category.”
The lamps have a suggested retail range of $150 to $250, with a sculptural 59″-high natural rattan floor lamp priced at $600. The products are in stock and ready for fast delivery.
“Quick turnaround is key for both retailers and designers today, and they will appreciate the fact that they can ship the lamps with our furniture,” said Michael Rosilio, president of Meridian. “Our move into whole home makes it easy to order everything they need for a space from one, responsive source who understands their needs.”
The manufacturer is also paying close attention to shipping. “We package our lamps to ISTA-6 drop ship standards,” Marx said. “This is important because it certifies whether product packaging can survive the harsh single-parcel delivery environment without being repackaged or needing extra boxing. This means our dealers don’t even have to open the box when it arrives, much less repack the lamp to ship to their customer. We know that’s long been a struggle for many retailers who want to sell online in addition to their brick-and-mortar stores, especially on the décor and accessories side.”
