American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Creates Lighting Exhibit for High Point Market

A new exhibit that showcases the role that lighting plays in delivering fashion and function to homes will debut during High Point Market on Saturday October 25 at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame, following a champagne ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11a.m.

The Art of Illumination exhibit has been designed and curated by Currey & Co., and will also include “trend-setting products” from Revolution and Hubbardton Forge as well as Currey, according to a press release. Examples of various types of lighting – ranging from table and floor lamps to sconces and chandeliers – featuring distinctive materials such as porcelain, crystal, marble, natural shells, recycled and blown glass, plus hand-forged iron and brass, are part of the display.

The Hall of Fame creative team includes David Gebhart, founder of Global Views; Caroline Hipple, HB2; Kyle Hughes, Hall of Fame historian and curator; and Karen McNeill, Hall of Fame executive chairman.

“Currey & Co. is thrilled to be a part of the Art of Illumination Exhibit at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame,” says Cecil Adams, vice president and creative director at Currey & Co. “The exhibit walks through the evolution of lighting over time and has been designed to inspire and amaze consumers and industry veterans alike. It is a wonderful way to showcase this essential category of home furnishings and to encourage visitors to explore the contribution that lighting makes to their own homes.”

According to Adams, this exhibit won’t be an “old-fashioned display of objects under glass, with notecards telling viewer what to think. Instead, it will be interesting, a little whimsical and, above all, beautiful. Visitors will not only learn about lighting and its importance in the home, they’ll also be able to circulate within the display itself and see just how varied, complex and attractive lighting is…It has been a pleasure for our team to collaborate with the Hall of Fame team and other lighting providers to create this engaging, fun and informative exhibit.”
