Illinois-based accent furniture, wall art, textiles, and accessories manufacturer Howard Elliott<\/a> sent a letter to customers today to allay fears caused by the recent tariffs ahead of the Spring High Point Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe know the recent tariff changes may be causing some concern, and we want you to know, we\u2019re here for you every step of the way,\u201d the letter read. \u201cWe will continue to honor the pricing on all items currently in our warehouse.\u201d Regarding new product releases, the letter stated, \u201cWe\u2019re carefully reviewing how these changes may affect future products and will keep you informed of any necessary adjustments with as much notice as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company pointed out that many of its textiles \u2013 including decorative pillows, poufs, throws, and ottomans are made in the U.S. and therefore not impacted by the tariffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Howard Elliott joins the growing list of companies sending out messages to its customers regarding the expectation of price increases, which has caused retailers to carefully consider whether they will be purchasing new product over the next few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week<\/a>, Innovations Lighting promised customers that it intends not to raise prices and last week<\/a> AICO offered a \u201ctariff-free inventory\u201d deal to customers on items currently in its warehouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The threat of tariffs has softened the usual demand during the spring as retailers wait and see if there are any more reversals or reductions in tariff percentages. The volatile tariff situation is expected to affect order-writing activity at markets; however, many retailers say they will be attending the shows to see the new styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
