According to an article in the local newspaper, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldnet.com\/2026\/06\/05\/everetts-seattle-lighting-location-set-to-close-in-july\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Daily Herald<\/a>, the Hewitt Avenue showroom\u2019s last day in business was July 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Herald writer Jenna Millikan broke the news and asked store manager Julie Frisbee the reason for the closure. According to Millikan\u2019s article, Frisbee said, \u201cIt\u2019s hard to do business when people are being strapped so harshly for money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to its website, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattlelighting.com\/#locations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seattle Lighting<\/a> still operates showrooms in Bellevue and Tacoma, Washington, plus has a \u201cshowroom &amp; clearance outlet\u201d in Seattle as well as a location for commercial sales in that city. At one time (in the early 2000s), the company had 16 showrooms \u2014 8 under the Seattle Lighting name and 8 under Globe Lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seattle Lighting was founded in 1917 by Walter Funsinn and Joseph Schomer, who originally named their business the Seattle Lighting Fixture Company. Seattle Lighting also operates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globelighting.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Globe Lighting <\/a>(founded in 1978) which has four showrooms and a clearance outlet in Oregon as well as a showroom in Vancouver, Washington. In addition, Globe Lighting is the parent company to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.meletio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Meletio Lighting<\/a> in Dallas. Seattle Lighting also operates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.builderslightingboise.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Builders Lighting Boise<\/a> in Idaho as well as the etailers <a href=\"https:\/\/builderslighting.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BuildersLighting.com<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destinationlighting.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DestinationLighting.com<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The closure of the Everett store this month follows the shuttering of its flagship in Seattle\u2019s Pioneer Square area in February, where it had operated for over 100 years.
