{"id":3668,"date":"2026-06-11T14:49:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T14:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lightingnewsnow.com\/?p=3668"},"modified":"2026-06-11T14:49:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T14:49:14","slug":"amazon-freight-enters-the-ltl-category","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lightingnewsnow.com\/?p=3668","title":{"rendered":"Amazon Freight Enters the LTL Category"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Amazon Supply Chain Services announces new less-than-truckload shipping service for all businesses of any size to any type of destination.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, <em>Lighting News Now<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/lightingnewsnow.com\/?p=3621\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> on changes to FedEx Freight that could affect less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping that showrooms and small manufacturers use in their business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now Amazon Freight is stepping up to the plate in the LTL market. Manufacturers and suppliers that are already using Amazon Freight to move full truckloads now have option for smaller loads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On June 10, Amazon announced that its LTL service, which includes palletized shipments, is officially open for all businesses to any type of destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe kept hearing the same thing from shippers, \u2018I need LTL that performs like my full truckload service,\u2019\u201d said Jim Ruiz, director at Amazon Freight. \u201cThat\u2019s a high bar, and it\u2019s exactly the one we set for ourselves. This launch is our answer to that challenge and built on the same operational backbone that moves Amazon shipments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Amazon launched inbound LTL last year, it was built for smaller shippers moving loads into Amazon fulfillment centers. Now, as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/supplychain.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amazon Supply Chain Services<\/a>, more options have opened up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a company statement from Amazon, \u201cWhether you\u2019re a budding business or a large enterprise, you can tap into Amazon\u2019s logistics network for your LTL freight the same way thousands of shippers already do for FTL. This includes shipping to your own warehouses, distribution centers, and retail locations, as well as Amazon fulfillment centers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Noted business customer Zech Hintz, vice president of Global Supply Chain at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattern.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pattern<\/a>, \u201cWe\u2019ve worked with Amazon Freight on the truckload side for over four years, so when they launched LTL, adding it was an easy decision. Having flexibility for both truckload and LTL through a single provider in Amazon Freight has simplified our operations in ways we didn\u2019t expect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Businesses can start receiving quotes for LTL loads immediately by creating an account in the Amazon Freight <a href=\"https:\/\/freight.amazon.com\/signup?ref=E_CO_EB_AR_2026-ltl-launch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">portal<\/a>. Amazon Freight maintains terminals across the country and has a fleet of 80,000+ trailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qualified shippers get access to a unified, multi-modal drop trailer pool shared across both FTL and LTL.
