Century Furniture will launch its lighting line at High Point Market. LNN<\/em>\u2019s Style Editor finds out why the timing is right and how the new vertical makes sense for the company. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Century Furniture is preparing to release 40+ designs in its inaugural lighting line during next month\u2019s High Point Market<\/a>. The collection includes table lamps, floor lamps, sconces, and chandeliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement by the company, the lighting category is \u201crooted in the same North Carolina heritage that defines Century\u2019s furniture<\/a>\u2026and carries forward the company\u2019s commitment to enduring quality and meticulous detail. The same spirit of craftsmanship found in Century\u2019s joinery and finishing techniques now extends to the artistry in their fixturing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LNN<\/em>\u2019s Style Editor Julie A. Palm asked Justin Binnix, vice president of case goods, outdoor and lighting, about the new release and why the timing felt right to enter the lighting industry.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLighting is a natural category extension for Century. Increasingly, interior designers and retailers prefer cohesive solutions from their trusted brands. By expanding into lighting, Century will offer one of the most important elements in completing a room. We feel the timing is perfect to bring Century\u2019s design perspective into lighting \u2014 allowing us to offer thoughtfully designed pieces that work seamlessly with our furniture collections and blend with a wide variety of interior styles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Binnix added that the lighting program has been in development for roughly 12-18 months. \u201cDuring this time, we have spent a great deal of effort studying the category, refining designs, and ensuring we present the quality people expect from Century. Our goal was not simply to add another category, but to introduce lighting that truly reflects the Century design language.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to Palm asking whether the launch will open new customers for the brand or serve as an additional category for existing customers, Binnix said, \u201cWe think it will do both. For our existing customers \u2013 furniture retailers, interior designers, and dealers \u2013 it provides a new category, allowing for complete project designs with lighting to complement our furniture. At the same time, lighting opens the door to new distribution opportunities [for those] who may not currently carry Century.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In discussing the uniqueness that Century brings to the category, Binnix explained, \u201cWith Century\u2019s deep experience in furniture, materials, finishes, and scale, we can design lighting that feels intentionally connected to interiors rather than existing as a separate category. We also bring a strong heritage of craftsmanship and innovation, which allows us to produce lighting with the same attention to detail our customers expect. We feel these strengths are unmatched by many lighting companies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlights of the new introductions include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halo Series \u2014 Featuring an interchangeable shade system that lets customers switch between plaster, woven, and linen shades to coordinate with upholstery, window treatments, and surrounding textures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cathedral Lantern \u2014 Designed for rooms that demand presence, the Cathedral Lantern series has substantial proportions engineered specifically for grand spaces where standard fixtures might disappear. Its architectural scale brings balance and visual gravity to interiors with high ceilings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Torel \u2014 Created for the modernist sensibility, the Torel series is described as exploring the intersection of structure and softness.\u201d Vertical cylinders of luminous opal glass are surrounded by a precision-milled frame in either a Soft Brass or Soft Nickel finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLighting isn\u2019t just about fixtures,\u201d Binnix concluded. \u201cIt\u2019s about the warmth and mood that is created in a room.
