Celebrating its 45th<\/sup> anniversary in 2026, Quorum kicks off the year with a reimagined Lightovation showroom and category expansions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the upcoming Lightovation this week, attendees will immediately notice that the Quorum International <\/a>lighting showroom has completely transformed \u2014 and in a way that underscores the direction for the company going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, the Oxygen line has been displayed in a separate showroom adjacent to Quorum. This January, however, the barrier between the two spaces has been removed, creating a seamless and expanded footprint for Quorum. The blending of both showrooms also reflects the corporate mission of integrating Oxygen into the parent company. Eventually Cyan Design<\/a> and the newly launched Lavin Rugs<\/a> will join Oxygen as brands (instead of separate companies) under Quorum\u2019s corporate entity. For example, branding will be: Oxygen by Quorum, Cyan Design by Quorum, etc. \u201cThose individual brand names still have power, and name recognition,\u201d company president Jose Lopez said, adding that the goal is to have a conglomerate of brands under the Quorum name.  This move is designed to provide greater convenience and a more streamlined customer experience for ordering across the brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly renovated Quorum showroom is delineated by design and product strengths. For example, products from Oxygen will be labeled as such, there will be a central area for the builder-oriented assortment that has been a core business, but there will also be an area for decorative product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the changes to the showroom\u2019s appearance, Lopez observed, \u201cThe showroom looks phenomenal; it\u2019s a whole new concept [for us] and gives our decorative product more visibility. Even though we had decorative product all along, it wasn\u2019t really merchandised that way. The way we\u2019re merchandising it [now] with more lifestyle settings gives showrooms inspiration, where they can come in and say, \u2018Oh I can see this in a project I\u2019m working on\u2019 or \u2018I\u2019ve got customers looking for something like this.\u2019 I think everyone in the lighting industry is trying to up their game \u2014 and while the industry is competitive, I think there\u2019s enough for everybody to get their share.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lopez has been at the helm of Quorum for nearly five years and has been with the firm for almost 28 years. He has seen the evolution of the company first-hand, and noted that the most recent changes are a result of listening to customers \u2014 such as the goal of broadening the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve heard from customers that they want to support the brands that support them, but in some cases, we didn\u2019t have [the categories] they needed. So we\u2019re looking to become more diverse in the products that we offer,\u201d he said. For example, the Cristal Lighting brand that was once part of the Quorum family in the past, has been reintroduced through the Cyan brand recently, and now is making it way into the Quorum assortment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been looking at what has been successful for us before and are giving today\u2019s customers a higher-end look, a mid-tier look, and some builder products. We\u2019re trying to give as much diversification of products among our brands so that they come to us for things like vanity lights, illuminated mirrors, ceiling fans, decorative pendants, etc. We\u2019re trying to be as diverse as we can,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe\u2019ve also become more diverse in our design team, which has been with us a few years, and I think they\u2019ve done a good job of adapting to the vision that we have. I think showrooms will see, in the new releases, where Quorum is headed. We aren\u2019t abandoning our builder-grade product \u2014 that is something that we focus on and is very important to us, and we value that business. We just want to have other options for our showrooms, where they can come to us for the more decorative product.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the world has changed, and social media has become more important, Quorum has stepped up its approach in communication. \u201cPeople are curious as to how things get done,\u201d Lopez said, referring to some of the behind-the-scenes short videos the company has posted on social media. \u201cI think showing the cool people behind Quorum is having an impact. It\u2019s become something that we want to make sure that we keep doing like taking photos or videos of what a travel journey is like for the product development team. People enjoy that; they aren\u2019t aware of all that is entailed. The management style that we have now is that we want to show the personality of Quorum, and to show customers what happens behind the curtains over here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the merchandising aspects that Lopez believes Quorum customers will be talking about \u2013 and be inspired by \u2013 are the new feature walls created by the design team. \u201cIt\u2019s a whole new way of merchandising the showroom space,\u201d he explained.  A recent post on the company\u2019s LinkedIn page included a time-lapse video that shows director of design David Patton painting a mural of a chandelier on a feature wall \u2014 and the design shown is actually a preview of a product introduction debuting at the June edition of Lightovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quorum\u2019s new Lavin Rugs brand will be shown inside the Cyan Design showroom on the fifth floor of the World Trade Center (540). The Quorum showroom will have a new entrance along its existing space on the third floor of the Trade Mart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
