A new twist on the organization\u2019s signature \u201cParty with a Purpose,\u201d the Home vs. Hunger Non-Event Event offers marketgoers the chance to skip yet another cocktail party and instead make a meaningful impact by donating directly to World Central Kitchen (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wck.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WCK<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Home vs. Hunger is asking participants to \u201cbuy a ticket\u201d to an \u201cevent that doesn\u2019t require RSVPs, dress codes, or juggling wine glasses and catalogs.\u201d Every dollar raised goes directly to World Central Kitchen to provide meals to people in crisis ($3 equals one full meal).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHigh Point Market is overflowing with showroom parties, so we decided to do something different,\u201d said Russ Jones, Gift for Life Board Member and Home vs. Hunger Event Chair. \u201cBy skipping the party and donating instead, attendees can turn the cost of <em>one<\/em> Market martini into two hot meals for people in need.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How It Works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Donate online during High Point Market (Oct. 25\u201329) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.giftforlife.org\/donate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Snap a pic of yourself enjoying a drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Tag @GiftForLife to spread the word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your \u201cticket\u201d will help World Central Kitchen provide nourishment and hope both nationally and across the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples of Impact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; One Market Martini = 2 hot meals served<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; One Uber across town = feeding one family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; One charcuterie board = one week\u2019s worth of groceries<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Home vs. Hunger Non-Event Event aims to prove that sometimes the best way to make an impact is by staying in, raising a glass, and giving back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gift for Life\u2019s Home vs.Hunger initiative, which debuted at High Point Market in October 2022, has now raised more than $112,000 through various fundraising activities, including in-person events at High Point Market and online campaigns.
