To encourage younger generations to enter the retail industry, Dallas Market Center (DMC<\/a>) has created the Bill Winsor Retailing Scholarship, a new endowed scholarship at Texas A&M University honoring the legacy of Bill Winsor, former DMC president, CEO, and chairman emeritus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scholarship will support students in the Mays School of Business<\/a> and the Center for Retailing Studies<\/a> who plan to pursue careers in retail or wholesale. It is being established through a grassroots campaign by colleagues and friends who were inspired by Winsor\u2019s enduring leadership, entrepreneurial vision, and deep belief in the power of commerce. A steering committee of industry leaders is lending their support to help raise funds: George Kacic, CEO of Margins USA; Chuck Fraelich, president of tag; and Alison Dodson, owner of retailer A. Dodson\u2019s, who first approached DMC to help create a scholarship. They have been joined by committee members Troy Lee, president of Savoy House; Maria Mullen, CEO of Hubbardton Forge; Rick Seidman, CEO of Quoizel; and Roxie Orms with Clint Orms Engravers and Silversmiths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBill was passionate about entrepreneurship and the power of retail to support communities across the U.S.,\u201d said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of DMC. \u201cHe also mentored generations of professionals, and this scholarship will continue that legacy by supporting future leaders in retail.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scholarship is planned to be endowed at $100,000 or more, ensuring perpetual support for students exploring the business of retail. Administered by the Texas A&M Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, donations toward the scholarship are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bill Winsor joined DMC in 1993 following his leadership at INFOMART. Over a multi-decade career, he helped grow Dallas Market Center into the largest B2B wholesale marketplace in the world, overseeing thousands of trade events and helping launch tens of thousands of businesses across home d\u00e9cor, lighting, apparel, and gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winsor passed away in December 2024 following a brief illness. His legacy endures not only in the marketplace he helped shape but also in the lives of the many he mentored and led.
